trip to mackinaw - day 2...

tuesday was supposed to be the best weather day so we decided we'd take the ferry to mackinaw island. our original goal was the 9:00 ferry and we made it on the 10:00...not too bad!

max doesn't particularly like to sit still. i admit to a bit of bribery with this lollipop for the ferry ride!

here is the little man all set up in his bike trailer. he did great in this thing. he was hooked up with a couple of toys, a waterbottle, and was ready to go!

about 2 miles into the 8 mile ride around the island, we stopped to climb up these stairs to check out the view.

i wouldn't mind a vacation home here! :) (in my dreams!)

(insert 6 more miles of bike riding, sore butt bones, and a little bit of sunburn.)

we made it all the way around the island and stopped at a nice little restaurant for lunch and cocktails.

there are no cars on the island so everyone gets around by bike or horse.
there were horse drawn carriages everywhere. after awhile, you must get use to the aroma.

it was a gorgeous day and we had so much fun.
we bought some fudge and headed back to the ferry.

max was so tired, he took his nap right there on me on the boat.
it's been forever since he's slept on me like that...i definitely didn't hate it! :)

uncle denny, heidi, and teddy sat on the third deck for the ride back.

after a yummy dinner of hobo stew and rice, i headed in the cabin to give max his bath.

since the cabin only had a stand-up shower, max got to take his baths in a storage container.

it was early to bed for max and drew...they were exhausted. i watched part of a movie with the family in the other cabin and then felt the need to sleep too.
