again...

i'm going to start calling this kid "houdini."
i went up to check on max and found him sleeping like this.
i tried to to pull up his shorts and for some reason i couldn't do it.

after taking a closer look...
i realized that somehow he'd put both legs through one of the legs of his shorts.
hilarious.
he must have just been so tired, that it didn't bother him enough to keep him up.

what we've been up to through random pics...

i haven't had the motivation to blog lately.
here are a few pics from here and there that recap the last few weeks.

we've been taking advantage of the downtown farmers market on saturdays.
max enjoys taking it all in, enjoying the treats, and listening to all the live music.
i love the fresh produce, running into friends, and the family time!

max got a couple cute new outfits for his birthday.
he's become quite the model lately.
i asked him to "pose" for me and i was able to get these great pictures!

stud muffin!

we had some friends from kentucky over for a play date.
we had thought about the different places we could go.
since it was pretty hot, we decided to have lunch and a water party at our house.

here was the yummy spread for lunch.

the kids played in the pool and the sprinklers.
played on the swing set and enjoyed popsicles.
the parents talked, relaxed and enjoyed a beer!

max and his buddy, zoey, had a snack and watched a little jake at the end of the afternoon.

it has been pretty warm around these parts lately.
we have taken full advantage of our (mom's) kiddie pool, the awesome sprinklers max got for his birthday.
seriously, sometimes i look at him and wonder if he could possibly be any cuter! :)

drew's been playing a lot.
we have made it to a few gigs, mostly the outdoor ones!
the other day he played on a patio and we had a bunch of friends and family come out to see him.
it was so awesome!

max even got to dance with zoey!

max's uncle chris (drew's step brother) returned home from south korea last week.
we headed down to milwaukee to welcome him back at the airport.
afterwards, we headed out for ice cream!

we've been staying busy and trying to stay cool.
i will try to get back into the habit of blogging!
(sorry granny and gramps!)

july 4th...

on the 4th it was HOT.  i mean, soooo hot.
we decided to venture to communityfest to check it all out.

we were able to take in a waterskiing show.
some people were nice enough to let us sit on their tarp.
my handsome boys!

max is such a little sweater.  we had so much to drink this day.
lemonade, water and more water!

they were giving out free cupcakes for "america's birthday!"
it was almost to warm to enjoy it.  max tried his best! :)

we walked around for a bit and then headed back to the car.
here is proof of the only nap he has taken since his birthday.

we rested and cooled off at home.
we decided it was too hot to cook, so we used a gift card to texas roadhouse for dinner.

it was a fun family day!

july 3rd...

appleton's fireworks were scheduled for the 3rd.
so, we invited becky, the birthday girl, and baby audrey over to join us for the festivities.
look at this happy girl snuggling with her mommy!

i got some snuggles in with my guy too!

after dinner we waiting patiently for "dusk" so the fireworks would begin.

thumbs up!

look at how tolerant he was when we first layed them down to cuddle.

then it turned to complete sweetness! :)

we went outside to get ready.  i was super excited that we could see the fireworks from our backyard.  max was a bit hesitant about the fireworks.  he doesn't like loud noises.  we had earplugs and thought he could handle it.  we were wrong.  it started and he wanted to go to bed.  i put him in bed and after a few minutes went back to get him cause the show was awesome.

he couldn't relax outside and the mosquitoes were TERRIBLE!!!
we decided to try moving inside and watching from the dining room window.
max immediately started "oohing" and "aahing" at the fireworks.  it was awesome.

baby audrey passed out and we enjoyed the end of the show!
thanks for spending your night with us.

how...

the other night i went to check on max before i went to bed and this is how i found him.
not quite sure how he managed to end up like this. :)

party...

5:00 rolled around and we were ready to PARTY!!!
we were thankful to have so many friends and family members join us to celebrate!

the birthday boy in his baseball shirt.
yes, for you wisconsin peeps, i know it's the wrong team, but this was the shirt that he chose.

after a yummy dinner of hot dogs (kogels that grampa mark brought from michigan), salad, beans, fruit salad, chips, and pretzels...max was ready for cake!

so excited for everyone to sing him happy birthday!

making a wish!

digging in!

sugar OVERLOAD!

wow.  someone got spoiled.

buzz lightyear from grams!

superhero max.

he did such an awesome job opening presents.  we had been talking about being thankful.  that many people would be bringing him gifts and it was important that he looked at each person and said "thank you" for the present.  i guess i didn't talk specifically about timing.  after i read him each card but before he would open the gift, he'd find the person in the room, look right at them, and so sweetly, excitedly, and sincerely, say "thank you!"  it was a pretty proud parent moment.

we had a fun time and max is loving playing with all his new toys!

preparing hicks field...

drew and i got up at 8 am and got to work to plan max's 3 year old baseball party!
the cake that i made.

the much more impressive cake that becky made!

welcome to hicks field!

i still can't believe he's 3!

and last but not least, we set up a baseball themed snack bar.
peanuts in the shell, kettle corn, cracker jacks, m&m's, and soft pretzels!

motorcycles and music...

saturday we decided to head to dada's gig outside of a harley davidson store in manitowoc.

first, we had some snuggle time on the couch!

then max helped me get ready.
he modeled my headband, but i decided it looked better on him, so i chose not to wear it.

then, we enjoyed our green monster smoothie before hitting the road.

he was moved by the groove.
playing air guitar and tapping his toes.
it's too much! :)

conscious pilot played a great show!
it was a beautiful day.
