arrgh, its halloween...

we had a great halloween.
max LOVES the holiday...the candy, the dressing up, the spooky stuff.
we really had lots of fun this year.

one of his classmate's parents took this picture at their school party.

we were going to celebrate uncle denny's birthday after trick-or-treating.
i made this mummy pretzels for the party.

here are some shots with our little pirate...ready to trick-or-treat.

max was a fan of the mustache.
when he would find a talkative person, he'd say, "do you like my mustache?"
after their answer, he'd answer, "thanks, my mom drew it on me!" so cute!!!

our annual family picture on the porch!

happy birthday uncle denny...we love you!

fall trip to the zoo...

haunted house ended last saturday.
in celebration and to help the staff "recover" we close the monday after.
it was supposed to be sunny and in the mid-high 40s.
i told max we could do whatever he wanted.  i listed a bunch of ideas and as soon as i mentioned "the zoo" i knew our plans had been made.
grama joined us...and was also excited to check out the n.e.w. zoo for the first time.

the penguins were very active.  max really enjoyed watching them swim around.
they kept swimming back and forth and stopping to check him out.

max loves lions.  after looking at the real ones, he decided to take a rest on this one! :)

during the previous weekend, the zoo ran a halloween event.
many of the decorations were still up.  some of them freaked max out.
this one freaked me out.  i DO NOT like clowns.

max got up close and personal with the bull frog.

we saw wolves, black bears, moose, monkeys, turtles, prairie dogs, and many more.

one of the last things we did, was see and feed the giraffes.

max got to feed hodari a few rye crackers.
max thought it was pretty neat to be able to do this.

we had a great time at the zoo.  we spent over 2 hours there walking around, exploring and learning new things.  thanks for joining us grama...hope you had fun too!

pumpkin carving '12...

max was beyond excited to carve pumpkins.
i made the mistake of telling him on the drive home from school that we were going to do it that night.
after asking me about 10 times "is it time yet?' i had to get creative.
i cut out shapes and a pumpkin out of construction paper so that he could figure out how he wanted his jack-o-lantern to look so that i could get dinner made.

after dinner, it was go time!
scraping the goo out of the inside.

he didn't mind it at all.
that was a good thing...cause the hole in the top was barely big enough for my hand to fit.
he did a great job cleaning it out.
next, we drew on his face...circle eyes, a triangle nose and a mouth with teeth.
we got one of those tool kits, so he was able to help me make the cuts.
he was so proud of his pumpkin, he carried it around the house with him.
the finished products...drew's, max's, and mine.

more photos from the little farmer...

i forgot that we took some pictures with our camera while at the little farmer at the end of september.
i was clearing off the camera and found them.
they were too cute not to share.

the petting farm area...
