thoughts about max at 3...

i didn't really do a "reflective" 3 year old post...but i've been thinking about it a lot but kept putting it off...so here goes.

max,
i can't believe you are three years old already!  you are getting so big.  each and everyday with you is truly an adventure.

you are silly, sensitive, funny, curious, caring, and oh so smart.  you love playing sports...baseball and football are your favorite right now.  you often will start up a game with the "players" in the backyard, but you like playing with daddy and momma the most.  you like to read and have so many of your books memorized.  you love to play.  your favorite toys are your cars, buzz and woody, and your snuggle buddies.

you have an incredible memory.  we have been calling you "steel trap" lately.  you remember such specific facts, things that we did last year, and random events.  it's quite entertaining.

you are a cheese ball.  you love to dance, are starting to "pose" for pictures, will talk to anyone (especially the elderly), and are learning to tell jokes (but unfortunately you tell them like your dad!).

you have started to make friends in the neighborhood.  it's pretty precious.  they come and knock on our door and ask you to play.  you do such a good job being a nice boy and following directions that we usually let you do it.  i must admit, it was very hard on me the first time they invited you to play.  that had always been my job. :)

you have your own words for somethings.  the most recent example of this is the word "fore-bean."  someone threw a stuffed animal and it bonked you in the forehead.  your response, "momma, it hit me in the fore-bean."  dada has always called your head, your bean.  so, you took it upon yourself to create this word.  it's just too cute for us to correct you.

i am proud of you for giving up your nuk.  i know it was hard for you.  although i wish you were still taking naps, i'm glad you were able to be such a big boy and give up the nuk without too many tears.

you are just the most amazing little boy.  i am so glad that i get to be your mommy.  i'm happy that i am the one you want to hold you when you get hurt, i'm glad that i get to kiss you owies, and i'm so blessed that i get to learn so many things from you each and every day.

i love you...to the moon and back,

momma

cruisin on monday morning...

drew let max take a cruise to the park (about 4 blocks from our house) in his camero.
he sent me this picture and it just cracked me up.
it was a great way to brighten up a monday!

art in the park...

the last sunday of the month is always "art in the park."
this is one of my favorite days.
artists from all over the area set up in the park and sell their creations.
it has been a tradition for years, that drew always gets me a piece of jewelry from "art in the park."
i couldn't wait to find my treasure!

my handsome fellow checking out the band!

max got to enjoy a smoothie while we waited for some yummy lunch from the kangaroosteraunt!

we ran into many friends...old and new...while there, saw some amazing artwork and i found a really great necklace! :)

hanging at the campground...

the last weekend of july we headed to visit grammi and grampa ken while they were camping.
it was fun to just relax and hang out with everyone.

grampa ken took drew, max, and lucas for a boat ride.
max loved it.  he went on and on when they got back about how fun it was.

max got to go fishing for the first time.
he was a fan.  unfortunately he didn't catch anything.
it was pretty cute, he kept singing a song from jake and the neverland pirates that they sang on an episode about fishing.

a little "instagram" editing! :)

sharing a moment!

max having snacks with his cousins, lucas and taygen.

before dinner grammi played football with her boys.
i just love max's pose while listening to her explain the rules and remind them of the perimeter.  :)

thanks for the fun day grammi and grampa ken!

intro to the olympics...

i was super excited for the olympics this year.
i love the olympics, especially the summer olympics.
it reminds me of being a kid, living in california, laying on a pile of blankets on the living room floor with my brother, staying up late, and taking in the action.

max and i planned a party and couldn't find anyone to join us.
so we got ready with our red, white, and blue gear.

and we waited..
we were excited.

silly.

lions.

and then just us.

max was in awe of the opening ceremonies.
it was so fun to watch it with him and to explain what was going on.

he got antsy and shared a moment with maggie.

we had a fun night together.
at one point he disappeared by his toy box.
the next thing i knew, he popped up in front of me and said, "momma, take my picture!"
hahahahaha!!!!
he is too much!

a fun back-up plan...

(a few weeks ago) we loaded up in the car to head to green bay for a trip to bay beach.
we got halfway there and the skies turned grey.  boooooo!
we decided to go and check out the children's museum in green bay instead.

it was pretty busy, because it's new and because the weather was bad, but we still had fun.

we checked out the packer area first.
here is our little packer, striking a pose.

doing the lambeau leap!

a family shot at "lambeau field!"

next he waited patiently in line for his turn to play a virtual sports game.
he got to choose from soccer, football, and basketball.

he chose soccer.

goooooooooaaaalllll!

we walked around and headed to the fire department next.
he saw this desk and phone and sat down.
he said, "mom, this is where i work."
i think he's been to my office too many times! :)

driving the firetruck!

there was also a boat.  all around it were things to do.  you could drive the boat, play in the water, fish, and raise different nautical flags on the flagpole.  it was pretty cool!
max and dada enjoyed fishing the most!

then we went to the store.
this was neat.  there was a cash register, tons of food, scales, and shopping carts.
but, max grabbed a broom and helped clean! :)
he also played with some girls and checked things out!

drew and i enjoyed some "sushi!"

there was a 50's diner, a shoe shop, a building area, a craft studio and an awesome tree house.

we finished up at the museum and had some lunch before heading home.
it was a fun family friday!
