first day of preschool...

can you seriously believe that this little baby is old enough to be in pre-school already?

well, he is.  and the first day of preschool finally arrived.
everybody was all smiles (except for me-on the inside anyway!)

as i took these next few pictures, i imagined how annoyed he'll be with me in a few years for making him stand on the front porch and take his picture EVERY first day of school!

good luck little buddy.
we are sure you will have a great year.
we can't wait to hear all of your stories and watch you make new friends!

fort fun...

congrats brian and laurie...

on labor day weekend, we attended a wedding for our friends brian and laurie.
for the rehearsal, we travelled on a school bus to waupaca for a boat ride and dinner.
max was beyond excited to take his first ride on a school bus.

when we got to waupaca, we boarded the ship and did some exploring.
it didn't take max long to find his way into the driver's seat!
the captain, who was dressed like a pirate, was happy to share all of his secrets with max!

we took a cruise around the river, enjoyed a delicious dinner, and celebrated with brian and laurie before their big day!

the ceremony and reception was at the outer edge stage.
it was a great ceremony and a beautiful location.
drew did a great job as best man!

our little cheese ball!

waiting for the bride.
she wore a beautiful peacock blue colored dress.
the music was fantastic and we were happy to be able to witness it!

max did think that the music was a bit loud!

his attitude quickly changed one the dance floor was open and he was ready to bust a move!

he quickly made friends and danced with those girls all night long!

the music was great...so many talented musicians.

i think max might have had a little crush on this girl!

he was the life of the party.

here some video of his moves.
i was cracking up...so please excuse any shaking! :)

lately...

well, i've not been doing a good job keeping up with the blog lately.
so, here's my "catch up" post of what's been going on around here lately.

there's a new frozen yogurt place that opened up and i'd been anxious to try it out.
so we headed to cherry berry to see what it was all about.
my handsome boys definitely enjoyed their frozen yogurt.

max was sure to get every bit of it!

someone insisted on wearing his cowboy hat in the car.

this is the only he has napped lately.

the other day we just wanted to do something outside.
so, we walked around downtown and checked out the sites.
we ended our evening with a smoothie from harmony cafe!

i snapped this shot of libby the other morning.
she likes to sneak under our covers to snuggle in the morning! :)

i had to work a golf outing so max got to go to drew's gig with him and spend the night with grammi.
he made a boat at the festival where drew played.

then, he and grammi did some shopping and he found this sweet spiderman bike at a resale shop for $10!  he told grammi, "i really want this bike.  but you don't have to buy it for me, you can just give me the money and i'll buy it for myself!"  ha ha!

my mom bought this margarita maker for my aunt for her birthday.
my aunt named it julio.  julio is our friend! :)

enjoying a nice lunch at fratellos after church with my mom!
hannah, teddy, and diane joined us too!

i was a little bit in shock buying my little boy his first backpack for school.
i found a pretty great one for him...and he LOVES it!

we take kids from youth go camping every summer.
i did the shopping to feed all 25 of us for 3 days.
it was a FULL cart.

here are meredith and i on day one of the camping trip.
it was an awesome experience, the kids did great, and the weather cooperated.

here is drew with his shark balloon.
he bought this "for max."
it took him over an hour to assemble, $12 in helium, and he was ready to go.
i joked about his purchase on facebook and enjoyed many of the comments made by our friends.
one of drew's colleagues said that they had gotten one and it slipped out the door and then was lost.
the flew it around the house for a bit and decided he wanted to take it in the backyard.
i advised him against it after reading ian's comment on facebook.
(please note that he did not read the directions, or the back of the box)

well,  it went up, up, and away.
i ran in the house, drew thought i had a great idea of how to get it, but...

...i really just went to grab the camera.
max was quite sad that his shark wasn't coming back.
drew was upset and ready to call the company because it didn't say not to take it outside.
well, i showed him the box that said "hours of indoor flying fun" and the directions that said that the shark should be flown indoors.
oh well, now i get to spend $42 on whatever i want...no questions asked! :)

we took hannah and teddy to the n.e.w. zoo with us.

we had a blast!

on a trip up to door county, max got to enjoy his first treat from frosty tip! :)

we've been staying busy, having fun, and soaking in the beautiful weather and good quality family time!

bay beach, finally...

we finally made our trip to bay beach in august!
it was a nice, warm and sunny day!

max was so excited when we arrived and he looked around and realized all the fun that he was going to have at this place!
first he rode the jets.

and the boats.

we all rode the carousel together!

a red race car...his favorite color!

on the train with daddy!

the silly bugs.

he loved this ride.  he had the best grin on his face and was just giggling with excitement.

and the helicopters.
i think this was his favorite ride.
he got to ride it twice...once with daddy,

and once with momma!

it was a fun family day and we can't wait to take him again next summer!

cincy road trip - sunday...

what started as 7 friends in kentucky together has bloomed into 5 happily married couples with 8 beautiful children!  i look forward to many more gatherings with these wonderful people!

we loaded up in the car and max was ready to go with all his snuggle buddies! :)

it was a LONG trip home...but we made it and would/will do it again in a heartbeat!
