our weekend...

our weekend started off with drew and i heading to the title company on friday afternoon.
we had to snap a picture after we signed the papers for our new house!

on saturday we headed to take in a bit of octoberfest.
neither max or i were feeling the greatest. but what can make a little guy feel better then the undivided attention of BOTH of his gramas. he was in heaven!

here is our cool dude...
sunday was spent at church, out to breakfast with the family and then nap time.
max got a 3 1/2 hour nap in and mommy got in just over an hour.
daddy took advantage of the down time and got a project done at home.

sunday evening we had some of the family over to the new house for beer and pizza!
thanks to mom, becky, heidi, lindsay and bill for joining us for the impromptu celebration!

our first family picture in our new house!
we are so excited to move in!

15 months...

we can't believe that our sweet little boy is 15 months old!
you are growing so very fast.
maxwell joseph, you are such a smart boy.
your vocabulary expands every day.
here are some of the things that you say that crack us up...
you know so many animals and animal noises. but you won't say "pig," you'll just mouth an oinking noise. (i'll have to get this one on video soon!)
when you put on your sunglasses you say "cool dude" but it sounds like "doo du."
we will often hear you in your crib when trying to fall asleep or after you wake up saying "ma ma, da da, ma ma, da da" and after awhile it turns into "ma da."

you love to throw anything. we wish you'd just throw balls...but really whatever you can hold, you'll put back by your ear and say "throw" and launch it across the room.
you are learning to express what you want...not always in the best way...but you are coming into your own. we are working on please and thank you and you are so cute when you use your manners.

we are so lucky to be your mommy and daddy.

whew...

life around the hicks household has be C.R.A.Z.Y. this past week.

this is the start of my busy season at work.
i have been running here and there doing presentations for united way campaigns.
we are in the midst of crunch time for last minute haunted house projects.
and fourth quarter grants are due.

we had put an offer on a house that we fell in love with and it was accepted.
we had been playing a really fun game with the bank...wait...then we need these forms, then wait...then we need these other forms, then wait....then a holiday weekend, then we need these forms (which you already gave us 3 weeks ago). anyway, we finally go the final okay today and well, we're headed to the title company this afternoon.
(our new home!)

we have not sold our house yet, so if you know of anyone looking in the appleton, wisconsin area, please direct them to the following blog to check out the house...www.536seventhstreet.blogspot.com

add all of that to max being sick again and, whew, this momma could use a nap!

sidewalk chalk...

max tried out sidewalk chalk for the first time at grama's house today.

he grabbed ahold of it and drew on the ground just like grama and hayden.

we really thought he was getting the hang of it.

then, all of a sudden, max decided he wanted to know what it smelled like.

silly boy! :)

algoma wine fest 2010...

becky and i ventured for our 4th annual trip to the algoma wine fest.
it was a beautiful, dare i say it, fall day.
my mom was so very kind to stay back with a sick max so that i could go.
thanks mom!

becky is set with her bottle of octoberfest and her plastic glass!

lindsay joined us for part of the afternoon.

me with some of my most favorite girls!

becky and i listening to the band and showing off our moves.

becky is definitely busting a move here!

this is the last groove hogs gig...

...and we are not to happy about it.

the crowd was having fun!
we had a great time...once again!

another cold...

max is coming down with cold #2 from daycare.
i sure hope he gets over this one faster than the last one.
i made him this cozy spot to cuddle up in and relax this afternoon.
please keep our little peanut in your prayers.

let's get physical...

max got to spend part of the morning with aunt lindsay.
lindsay watched max so that i could go to a meeting for work.

they had fun playing catch, reading books, and playing with lindsay's headband.

i think he looks like he belongs on the "let's get physical" music video! :)

new jammers...

here is our handsome little peanut trying out some of his new jammers.

what a stud!

and a smartie-pants too.
i asked him where the spider was...and he pointed right too it!

hey, look, a horse!

giving the horse a kiss.

clean, wet, tired, beautiful, wonderful boy.

max loves to play with the camera case

not sure why its so much fun, but it is.

well, its fun until he decides that it isn't. :)

monsters...

we were at a store the other day and drew and max tried on these really awesome hats!
i just had to share this picture!

breaking out a new toy...

max got this awesome bounce and learn pony from uncle ryan and aunt leslie for his birthday.

we had been breaking out the new toys one at a time and we figured it was time for this one!

what is this?

this is pretty neat.
i think i really like it!

after some serious horse riding time, we had some play time on the floor...this kid cracks me up.

this is one of my favorite things that he does.he'll just crawl or walk over to us and give us a kiss on the leg.

seafood fest...

max and i went to seafood fest with becky and leah tonight.

max was loving the music and showing off his dance moves!

snuggling and dancing with mommy.

flirting and dancing with leah.

grooving and moving with becky.

isn't he just the cutest!
max, you are just too much sometimes...here are a couple of short dancing videos...

playing outside...

we got out and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather yesterday.

max played with his boat.
checked the driveway to see if daddy was home yet.

looked at birds flying in the sky.

and played with his car...not so much in it...but pushed it around.

it was a great day!

mommy's little helper...

max decided he wanted to help me clean the other morning.

eager to help! max got to work dusting.
he started with the stairs.

then daddy's change jar.

and then moved to the ottoman.

and finally he had enough and just carried it around on his shoulder.
thanks for your help buddy!
