we had a very, let's say, eventful, new years eve. we had been couped up in the house since monday, so max and i decided to head over to the stachowiak's annual new years eve pajama/fondue/beer tasting party. daddy had a gig in stevens point, so he didn't get to join us. and since the whole family got the same sickness, i figured we'd be safe going over there.
the gang consisted of denny, diane, hannah, teddy, heidi, daisy, my mom, max, and me. we enjoyed some yummy champagne punch, delicious cheese fondue, and then some shrimp and tenderloin in broth. that's when it got "eventful." max decided that he was having none of it. (unfortunately, i didn't get any pictures.) he wanted to cry and scream and no one was going to stop him. i didn't want to ruin other peoples evening...so we decided to head home. my mom insisted that she join us.
max feel asleep in the car for about 10 minutes and then when we were blocks from home, he woke up screaming!!! we tried everything, but this little guy was hurting. we had a bath, played with toys, strummed the guitar. i finally called nurse direct at 11ish. i'm guessing the have the "cream of the crop" working on new years eve. i explained to her what was going on. she asked, "where is his pain?" really lady, really? my son is 6 months old. if he could tell me what was hurting, i could do something about it! anyway, luckily our doctor was the one on call this weekend. i talked to him around 11:30. just as we were talking max fell asleep on my mom. doc said to give it a little bit of time and if he stayed sleeping...that would be the best thing for him. he did sleep...and so did i...until 7am!
it turns out to be the antibiotic that he's on. his little tummy just can't handle it. he had another bad episode yesterday to it. so i'm calling the doc today to let him know and see if he wants to put him on another med. he doesn't have an infection yet, but because of his pre-existing condition, they want to be as preventative as possible.
so, happy new year everyone! 2009 has been full of wonderful memories, some real life changes, a few difficult events, great blessings, and much love. let's see what 2010 brings our way.
