gunflint lodge...

one of my new year's resolutions was to do a few things for "me" this year.
i had the amazing opportunity to go on a women's retreat to gunflint lodge in the boundary waters.

there were about 50 women that loaded on a coach bus and started the very long drive to the boundary waters.
we stopped at gooseberry falls in northern minnesota to take a walk around!

then we finally arrive at gunflint lodge!

here was our cabin...rustic but definitely not roughing it.

the food was included in the cost of the trip and was amazing...i had some incredible meals and enjoyed eating things that i didn't have to make myself!

thursday morning i woke up bright and early to go moose calling.
i was able to see the sunrise, some incredible views...but we didn't see any moose.

we did see a bald eagle!
i was excited to tell max about it and show him the pictures!

this was the most incredible place that i have ever sat to read a book!
i think this will be my new "picture someplace calm and peaceful."

there was no schedule, just activities that you could sign up for...craft projects, history lessons, outdoor adventures, and more.

i went horseback riding!

hiked out to magnetic rock

and got stuck! :)

went on a rainy pontoon cruise to learn about the history of the fires in this area and got cold and wet,

but did come out of it with a few laughs and this beautiful picture!

i really needed this trip and was able to spend time with good friends and make some new ones!

i hope i have the chance to go back again some day!
