my little helper...

max wanted his own cart the other day when we ran to festival.

he did pretty good as long as he was paying attention!

friday fun day...

(i'm a week behind - sorry!)

last friday max and i headed off for a morning of adventure. first we went to sassafras for a haircut.

then we continued on to big apple bagel for our tradition of a bagel with cheese after his haircut!

next he wanted to go to kohl's to look at toys.

he made himself comfortable and read a thomas book on the floor.

we headed home to play on max's playground. he was pretending it was a pirate ship and invited me up for some fun!

then we went for a walk. he was intrigued by this stump.

he had enough of me and my picture taking.

he turned around like this and told me to leave him alone.

his afternoon ended with lunch and a nap!

visit with baby audrey...

max got to hang with baby audrey for a few minutes tonight.

she was in love with him.

she watched him and every move he made.

she was full of giggles, smiles, and squeals. too cute!

trip to the new zoo...

it was supposed to be nice today so we decided, depending on how max was feeling, we'd head to the new zoo in green bay. max woke up around 7:30 and said, "momma, i'm not coughing, i feel better, let's go to the zoo!"

drew had an early morning band practice so he coordinated a ride and we picked him up in green bay and we headed to the zoo.

max and his dada are best buddies!

there were peacocks everywhere. they kinda creeped me out.

the lions were really active. the male lion kept roaring. it was pretty cool but freaked max out a little bit and made him cry. we went from this view, to looking at them from behind the glass. that seemed to make it better.

max thought this duck had funny hair.

we checked out a badger. i was slightly worried about the glove in his area. hopefully it was dropped and is not the remnants of an all too adventurous toddler. :)

i love watching him explore.

by the way, he carried this monkey around with him the whole day. when we got to the monkeys he was showing his toy the exhibit and told him..."there are your friends!"

there was this bird house. lots of ducks, a buzzard, and an eagle. we actually went in this thing twice. there was so much action...i think that's why max liked it so much!

he thought this gorilla statue was hilarious.

after we finished at the zoo, we headed to the car and enjoyed a picnic lunch in the back. it was a bit windy so we thought it'd be the a good compromise!

random family happenings...

max was finally starting to feel better on wednesday!

we were so happy to have our little guy getting back to normal.

he even wanted to try a little photography out for himself! it took about 4 tries to actually get my head in the picture!

he and dada enjoyed a little jam session before dinner!

thursday evening he was hilarious. telling stories, laying on drew's back, and being very animated. he was entertaining to say the least.

then came friday morning. he woke up crying at 5:45 saying his head hurt. so we gave him some medicine and hoped he'd go back to sleep. he didn't. :( we got up, hung out, had breakfast and went to the grocery store. he was less than pleasant. he fell asleep in the car at 10:30 on the way home. i put in him in bed and he woke up crying about 40 minutes later. he told me his ear hurt again and i noticed he was running a fever. so...off to the doctors went went...AGAIN!

the doctor couldn't see his ear drum from wax but said his inner ear looked very irritated. now we're on an antibiotic and on the mend.

friday night we stayed in and hung out. we ended the evening by building this pretty sweet fort! max was a fan.

and so was drew! :)

a 2 1/2 year old storyteller...

he struggles to stay on topic and doesn't always make sense, but my goodness he sure is cute!

new car...

max was pretty proud of his new toy...a corvette!

sick boy...

well, our little guy is sick. this is definitely the worst one he's had in quite some time.

tuesday i took the day off of work to let him rest at home. he got up for something...

...and someone quickly snatched up his comfy spot.

he started having a really rough time tuesday after his nap. i called up the doctor and decided to bring him in. he was wheezing pretty bad and was working so hard to breathe. :(

the nurse gave him a nebulizer treatment and sent us downstairs for a chest x-ray and an rsv test.

we were sent home with no diagnosis, but with a prescription for prednisone and were encouraged to use the nebulizer as needed.

wednesday he was not wanting to have his picture taken.

but it was obvious how horrible he was feeling.

it was an especially rough couple of nights because drew was gone for work at winter camp with his students.

the next morning, max decided he wanted to sleep leaning up against the wall. i didn't think it was a very good idea. (i can't believe how big he looks in this picture!)

this is how i spent my saturday night. snuggling on the couch with my favorite little man, watching movies, and sharing some chocolate ice cream.

i missed my 15 year high school reunion. but i didn't really want to go without drew.

so, i guess i was okay settling for some snuggles with this cutie!

fun family day...

last sunday consisted of some errands, helping jordan with his car, and enjoying a delicious lunch at hu hot.

we hadn't been there with max in quite some time. it's clear to say, he was a fan. he loved picking out his food, watching it be cooked, and he gobbled it up!

we ended our night with some playtime and some silly potato head fun!
